TWO TRAVELERS CODEX

TIMELINE

All dates reflect standard Earth years and are noted as "SFE" (Space Flight Era).

  • 221 SFE

Jahti (then P-3475J2) and its moon Nirvana (then X-3475J2) are scouted for potential colonization.

  • 225 SFE

Jahti is rejected for potential colonization due to conditions in line with FrĂĽhjahr protected planets previously discovered. Nirvana is noted as a viable colony site and launchpad for study of Jahti.

  • 230 SFE

Sixteen TORT-15 units are delivered to Nirvana to begin terraforming the moon for habitation.

  • 231 SFE

Teams of terraforming specialists are deployed to Nirvana after anomalous data from the TORT-15 units. Zainab Guo is the first human to walk on the moon’s surface.

These specialists have the first settlement platforms delivered to three sites which will become the primary settlements of Sukarno, Samin (now Garvock-2), and Sakai.

  • 233 SFE

The Samin Rainforest hyperbiome is seeded near the Samin settlement (now Garvock-2). Further settlement of Nirvana occurs as part of its First Wave.

  • 236 SFE

TORT-15-U11 discovers Frühjahr technology near the planet’s core while boring a superdeep inland sea.

A legal case regarding Nirvana’s potential violation of the Galactic Settlement Charter is filed, but the complexity of the situation leaves an extended period where settlement is allowed to continue.

  • 237 SFE

The Second Wave of colonization on Nirvana begins.

  • 238 SFE

The first child is born on-planet, quickly followed by the second and third (twins). All exhibit strange features that will later be linked to FrĂĽhjahr influence.

  • 239 SFE

The First Regenesis Incident, also known as the Advent of the Ring, occurs. Regenesis colony ship Genesis 4 is destroyed with all hands by FrĂĽhjahr defenses. The Sakai settlement is caught in the crossfire and left in ruins. The husk of the Genesis 4 and debris form a ring around Nirvana and severely limit travel to and from the colony.

  • 240 SFE

The settlers of Garvock-2 officially rename it as such, and form a settlement council composed of members elected through consensus decision-making. Work begins on formal governing documents, filing off-system, and upscaling the council selection process as the population grows.

The first small-scale “delve,” a journey to Jahti in light craft with minimal crew, returns successfully with technology and edible plants. Delving becomes a profitable enterprise for groups of 4-10 people.

  • 244 SFE

Regenesis makes a second attempt at corporate settlement by using small craft and moderate resources to construct the Genesis 4 Memorial Regenesis Campus. Programs focus on studying Nirvana’s unique attributes as a colony, especially the Frühjahr-touched children.

The first Founder’s Day celebration takes place with a corporate presence. The differing cultures between the enclave and Garvock-2 cause friction.

  • 246 SFE

Friction between corporate and settler groups explodes into armed conflict during the Second Regenesis Incident. Regenesis management is driven to an orbiting station but maintains the appearance of status quo for the mother company.

  • 247 SFE

The Observer is seen sowing a field with bioluminescent seed. This crop appears to be meant for FrĂĽhjahr-touched children.

Amiable Wednesday gives birth. Word arrives Regenesis HQ will be sending an auditor to the colony. A celebration is held for the birth and in anticipation of a dangerous inspection.

  • 250 SFE

The Auditor arrives unseen and begins construction of an elaborate mansion outside of Garvock-2.

  • 251 SFE

The Auditor’s mansion is completed. Settlers see no further activity.

  • 253 SFE

Garvock-2 settlers reach out to the Regenesis manager in orbit, Mr. Melrose, about the status of the audit. They are told it is “ongoing.”

  • 255 SFE

Mr. Melrose notifies the leadership council of Garvock-2 that the audit has concluded. No sign of the Auditor was ever seen. No public report was produced. Mr. Melrose said only, “all is well.”

  • 257 SFE

All Frühjahr-touched settlers have a shared dream about catastrophic construction of a Dyson sphere in Nirvana’s solar system. Most settlers disregard this as “usual strangeness.”

Alexandr Taras Niemi, the first FrĂĽhjahr-touched child on Nirvana, begins going by the mononym Argent.

  • 258 SFE

A TORT-15 unit produces a field of flowers spliced with the Observer’s bioluminescent crop. Dubbed “Aquila,” this flower boosts physical performance when powdered and mixed with food or steeped as a tea. Export of this crop takes off, lowering interest in delving Jahti to take scans or export relics.

  • 260 SFE

One of the few remaining delve teams returns from Jahti with the NĂĽrvel Slate, unlocking new understanding of the FrĂĽhjahr.

  • 262 SFE

Argent declares himself a Harbinger and gathers other like-minded FrĂĽhjahr-touched people as fellow Harbingers. A group of over 600 people board light craft and depart for Jahti together. Communication with the group afterwards is sparse.

  • 263 SFE

The loss of such a large portion of the population prompts Nirvana to put out a call for more settlers. The Third Wave of settlement begins.

The first temple of Samin, the Unceasing Life, is consecrated.

  • 283 SFE

Nirvana’s population and settlements have largely recovered from the Harbinger departure and significantly expanded. People begin living both on top of and underneath platforms.

Nothing further is heard from Regenesis or the Auditor. The Auditor’s mansion begins to fall into decay.

Birds appear on Nirvana for the first time.

  • 293 SFE

Argent returns from Jahti. The Frühjahr structure at the moon’s center becomes active, and Frühjahr buildings begin to erupt from the ground across Nirvana without warning. Argent goes to one such ruin and disappears.

  • 296 SFE

The Precarious Centre Collective debuts Moce. It is treated as a novelty for a while, then largely forgotten.

Work is done on a seismic activity tracking system to “forecast” when and where Frühjahr ruins may erupt.

The pharmaceutical company Aetherus lands a colony spike between Garvock-2 and the ruins of Sakai. The colony spike is loaded with plans, materials, and construction robots which begin work. A countdown projection estimates Aetherus settlers will arrive in approximately 30 years.

  • 297 SFE

A unique FrĂĽhjahr tower emerges just outside of Garvock-2, dubbed the Ruinroad Tower. Aetherus construction robots journey to it and behave strangely.

  • 298 SFE

An Aetherus construction robot climbs Ruinroad Tower to knock the Garvock Circle ornament from the top of it. The ornament is destroyed. Aetherus robots stop venturing to the Tower.

  • 300 SFE

The leadership council of Garvock-2 begins monitoring a group calling themselves the “Second Ringers.” Their self-appointed duty is to monitor the Aetherus construction site, which will dwarf any other settlement on Nirvana when completed, and repel the eventual settler transport when it arrives by any means necessary.

Activity is reported in older portions of the Regenesis corporate enclave, but reports are difficult to verify.

  • 301 SFE

Dissolution of The Precarious Centre Collective reveals the true, damaging nature of Moce. A crisis of platform stabilization is revealed in the Underside, but staved off by Arborist Murphy and the Collapse Prevention Team.

  • 302 SFE

The Aquila economy declines as Moce lowers demand for vulnerable off-world goods. The delving economy reemerges.

The congregation of Samin, the Unceasing Life, loses a child to the jungle during a rite of passage. The age to undertake the rite is raised from 10 to 13.

  • 303 SFE

Children of the Harbingers return. They do not speak much about their parents, and most seem to want to reintegrate into colony life.

Astronomers report that the stars and constellations seem to be changing. Technicians report that astronomical equipment appears to be in working order. The cause of the changing night sky is unknown, but some connect it to the returned Harbingers and their parents’ mass dream.

  • 305 SFE

Alight in Defiance of Flame, a half-moth and half-human woman, introduces herself in Garvock-2. She spearheads the rebranding of Regenesis on Nirvana as a resource for those who want to undergo extreme genetic revision.

Work begins on The Clean Room, Regenesis’ proposed gene revision clinic to be built in the remains of the Auditor’s mansion, with space set aside for the protection of community-owned bioplastics manufacturing machinery from Moce.

  • 308 SFE

The Clean Room is completed. Hundreds of settlers book appointments for genetic revision. Their reworked bodies drive demand for new styles of technology and architecture they can better interface with.

  • 309 SFE

    The present year.
