about me

As I mention in my sidebar, my name is Alex (AKA Niko), and I write too much. A big part of the appeal of playing tabletop roleplaying games for me is the potential to really invest in a character. My inclination is to write full-length stories about them, often "missing scenes" from sessions, backstories, and so on. I’ve decided to archive all of the stories I’ve written for my TTRPG characters here. Over the years I’ve toyed with the idea of trying to rewrite them into original works, where the context of the game they were part isn’t necessary, but it hasn’t happened yet. I’d rather let go of that and put them out to be seen and enjoyed again, potentially by a wider audience, than have them gathering dust in my files. I hope you enjoy!

navigating the archive

There are a lot of different ways to attack what’s here. The home page displays recent stories from newest to oldest if you want to just dive in. In the sidebar you can find an Archives page which allows you to sort the stories by post date, alphabetically by title, by relevant character, and even by rough length based on their calculated reading time. Only have five minutes? I’ve got a few things you can read in that time.

If you want to know who you’re going to be reading about before you start, I recommend visiting the Characters page, where you can read a brief biography, see some art, and then be directed to their stories. Feel like something you're reading is heavily influenced by something else? Want to know about the system a character was run in? Check out Acknowledgments for some behind-the-scenes info.

get in touch

I don't use a lot of social media, but you can find me on:

Outside of playing TTRPGs and writing for them, my major project is being one of the co-hosts of On the Shoulders of Giants, a podcast about mechs across media and why we love them. We cover giant robots in movies, TV, anime, books, TTRPGs, and more. There's a pretty deep back catalogue if you're looking for something new to listen to.

You can find OSG Pod on...

webrings and promo trades

I'm open to joining webrings for sites focused on writing, long-form creative projects (like webcomics or webnovels), and TTRPGs. I don't have much experience with them, but I'd love to participate!

On a smaller scale, if you want to trade 88x31 buttons that link to our sites, and yours generally falls into one of the above categories, I'm interested! Leave a comment on my site or hit me up on my socials to let me know if you've grabbed mine so I can return the kindness. :)
